On July 5, 2024, Exempt Resolution No. 1706, 2024, from the Ministry of Mining, was published in the Official Gazette, subjecting the proposal for a new Regulation governing the design, construction, and operation of tailings storage projects to public consultation.   2. Considering advances in tailings engineering, especially related to new methods of tailings disposal, and national and international experience regarding failure studies;
  3. Setting rules for projects that include the extraction of tailings from existing tailings deposits; and,
  4. Establishing clear requirements that provide users with tools to present better tailings projects.

The public consultation period is 25 business days, from July 8 to August 12, 2024.
